This amazing property is the private home of professional writer, actor, singer, dancer, musician, choreographer, director, and event producer Joseph Tatner. Mr. Tatner is happy to share his home, offering tours and various events open to the community and visitors. Respectful behavior toward the property and other guests is required of all visitors. A $15 donation is requested per person for tours, which last around 2 hours, and donations may be requested for other events. Built in 1880, the Lebold Mansion is rich with history and bears a striking resemblance to the Addams Family home. Built over the original "dugout" dwelling of Abilene founders Timothy and Elizabeth Hersey (preserved as part of the basement), the mansion is located in Abilene, KS, the boyhood home of President Eisenhower. The first settler child in the area was born in the dugout, which can be seen by tour visitors. Building upon its rich history and unique architecture, various events are held on the property throughout the year. These include scheduled tours, public ghost hunts, themed Victorian dinners, Saturday Teas, Sunday Sundaes, etc. The mansion is available for movie and photo shoots and downstairs rooms are available for meetings. Overnight guests are occasionally allowed on an individual basis. Contact Joseph at the phone or email below.
Our Property
Built by Abilene banker C. H. Lebold in 1880, this beautiful Victorian mansion has many unique architectural features, such as inlaid wood parquet floors. More recent renovations have added unique carpeting from Europe and more than $750,000 of custom wallpaper.
Local Attractions
Abilene was built to accommodate Texas cowboys driving their cattle to board train cars at the end of the old Chisholm Trail. Notable Old West heroes and colorful characters include Wild Bill Hickok, who was the town sheriff for a while. Click the Fun Stuff link to see popular attractions in the local area.
Rooms & Reservations
Rooms currently include a traditional Victorian Splendor room, Maids Quarters, and Vampire room, each keeping in character with the property. Rooms are available upon request at the owner's discretion. Appropriate donations are requested.
